AI prompt: job finished, thanks, here's how to pay text for home services

A copy-and-paste AI prompt that writes the after-job text a plumber, HVAC company, electrician, roofer, lawn care company or other home services business sends to thank the customer and tell them how to pay, using only the amount and payment details you type in, with no invented payment links, amounts, tips, fees or due dates.

Text messagesContractors and home servicesPublished

When to use it

The job is finished and you want one short text that thanks the customer, names the work you did, states the amount if you have it, and tells them how to pay using only the payment details you provide. Useful when you invoice from the van, collect the same day, or send a payment link by text without letting the AI invent a link or a dollar figure.

  1. Copy the prompt below.
  2. Replace every {{VARIABLE}} with your own details (see the list under the prompt).
  3. Paste it into the AI chat tool you already use.
  4. Read the result against the checklist before you use it.

The prompt

You are helping a home services business write a short text message (SMS) to a customer after a job is finished. The text thanks them, names the job that was done, and tells them how to pay using only the amount and payment details the business typed in below. Never invent an amount, a payment link, a Venmo or Zelle handle, a card fee, a tip request or a due date.

DETAILS
- Business name: {{BUSINESS_NAME}}
- Type of business: {{BUSINESS_TYPE}}
- Customer's first name: {{CUSTOMER_NAME}}
- The job that was just finished (a few plain words): {{JOB}}
- Amount due (copy word for word), or "none": {{AMOUNT}}
- How to pay (copy word for word): {{PAYMENT_LINE}}
- What the customer can do if they have a question (copy word for word): {{QUESTION_LINE}}
- Opt-out line (copy word for word), or "none": {{OPT_OUT_LINE}}

LAYOUT
Write the text in exactly this layout, with each part on its own line. Do not leave any blank lines between parts. Parts in square brackets are instructions, not words to copy.
Hi {{CUSTOMER_NAME}}, this is {{BUSINESS_NAME}}.
Thanks for having us. We finished your {{JOB}} today.
[Line 3, only if the amount above is not "none": The amount due is [amount], word for word after those four words. Example shape: The amount due is $285. If the amount is "none", leave this line out and go straight to the next part.]
[Line 4: the how-to-pay line, word for word.]
[Line 5: the question line, word for word.]
[Last line, only if the opt-out line above is not "none": that line, word for word. If it is "none", leave this line out.]

RULES FOR THE TEXT
1. Use only the details above. Do not invent or change any amount, dollar figure, payment link, handle, phone number, fee, tip, due date or discount.
2. Do not add anything the business did not say: no tip requests, no card fees, no "pay within X days", no review requests, no upsells, no warranties, no promises to follow up, and no reply-to-confirm requests.
3. Include every part of the layout that is not "none", and nothing else. Never write the word "none" in the text. Say each thing once and do not repeat any sentence.
4. Plain words, short sentences, no emojis, no hashtags, no exclamation marks.

Before you answer, check your text: if any line is the word "none", delete that line.

Return only the finished text message and nothing else.

What to fill in

{{BUSINESS_NAME}}
Your business name, as customers know it.
{{BUSINESS_TYPE}}
What you do and where, in a few words.
{{CUSTOMER_NAME}}
The customer's first name.
{{JOB}}
The job you just finished, in a few plain words, e.g. kitchen sink repair or furnace tune-up.
{{AMOUNT}}
The amount due exactly as the customer should see it, e.g. $285, or "none" if the amount is only in an emailed invoice. The AI copies it word for word and never invents a price.
{{PAYMENT_LINE}}
One line on how to pay, e.g. a Venmo handle, a Zelle address, a card link you already created, or "pay with the link in the invoice email". The AI copies it word for word.
{{QUESTION_LINE}}
One sentence on what the customer can do with a question, e.g. Questions about the invoice? Reply to this text or call (your number). The AI copies it word for word.
{{OPT_OUT_LINE}}
The opt-out line your texts use, e.g. Reply STOP to opt out, or "none" if your texting service adds its own.

Real example output

Fictional sample business. Harbor View Plumbing, the customer, the Venmo handle, the Zelle address, the phone number and the dollar amount are fictional. They were made up to test this prompt; any resemblance to a real business or person is unintended. The payment details are examples only and are not real ways to pay anyone.

Model: Qwen3-4B-Instruct-2507 (Q4_K_M GGUF), llama.cpp server b11853, run locally, temperature 0.4. Tested on . Edits: None. The words are exactly as the model returned them, apart from removing spaces at the ends of lines. All 8 final runs with this prompt and these inputs passed the automatic checks (the greeting, the thanks and job line, the amount line, the payment line, the question line and the opt-out line copied exactly, each part on its own line, no blank lines, no invented amounts, payment links, tips, fees, due dates, review requests or reply-to-confirm requests, no repeated sentences) and a manual read. We ran the same prompt for 8 runs each on five other fictional businesses: an HVAC company with Venmo and Zelle wording and its own opt-out line, a window cleaner with no amount and no opt-out line, an electrician with a card-or-check payment line, a roofer with no amount who points to an emailed invoice, and a lawn care company with Zelle or porch-check wording. All 40 passed both checks: when amount or opt-out was "none", the model left that line out, and it never invented a dollar figure or a payment link. The runs were word for word the same, because the model mostly fills the layout with your own words, so the text is only as good and as true as the amount and payment details you give it. An earlier batch with the same prompt (4 runs each on the example business and the five others) also passed, 24 of 24. AI output varies between runs and models, so always review it before posting.

Check before you post

  • The amount matches the invoice you already created. If the final total is not ready, set amount to "none" and put the real total only in the invoice email.
  • The payment line uses a real Venmo handle, Zelle address, card link or check instruction you control. Do not paste a placeholder and expect the AI to invent the real one.
  • If you put a payment link in the text, create that link first and test it on your phone before you send it to a customer.
  • The phone number in the question line is one someone answers, copied exactly.
  • Do not ask for a tip, a review or an upsell in this same text unless you typed that yourself and it is allowed for your business.
  • Only text people who have agreed to get texts from you, and honor every opt-out. Check what your invoicing or texting software already sends, such as its own payment receipt, so the customer does not get two.
  • Before you switch it on, send yourself a test text with a real test amount and payment line, and pay through it once.
