AI prompt: write a weekly Google Business Profile post

A copy-and-paste AI prompt that turns this week's real news into a short Google Business Profile update post: a plain title, what's new, one useful detail and a line pointing to the post's button.

Google Business ProfileLocal businessesPublished

When to use it

You want to post on your Google Business Profile every week but don't want to start from a blank box. You have one real piece of news (a new service, a seasonal booking window, new hours) and want a short, accurate post that sends people to the Call now, Book or Learn more button.

  1. Copy the prompt below.
  2. Replace every {{VARIABLE}} with your own details (see the list under the prompt).
  3. Paste it into the AI chat tool you already use.
  4. Read the reply against the checklist before you post it on Google.

The prompt

You are helping a local business owner write this week's Google Business Profile post. It is an "update" post that shows on the business's Google listing in Search and Maps.

BUSINESS
- Business name: {{BUSINESS_NAME}}
- Type of business: {{BUSINESS_TYPE}}
- Town or area served: {{AREA}}
- Tone: {{TONE}}

THIS WEEK'S POST
- What is new or worth telling customers this week (real facts only): {{THIS_WEEK}}
- Who the post is for: {{AUDIENCE}}
- The button we will add under the post (for example Call now, Book or Learn more): {{BUTTON}}
- Anything the post must not mention or promise: {{DO_NOT_MENTION}}

FORMAT (four parts, with a blank line between each)
1. Title: one line of 3 to 8 words that says plainly what the post is about.
2. Paragraph one, 2 or 3 sentences: what is new this week and why it matters to the reader. Use the business name and the town or area here, once each.
3. Paragraph two, 1 or 2 sentences: one practical detail or tip the reader can use, taken only from the facts above.
4. Last line: one short sentence telling the reader to tap the {{BUTTON}} button below the post.

RULES
- Use only the facts given above. Do not invent prices, discounts, dates, times, numbers, statistics, ratings, reviews, awards, guarantees or customer stories, and do not add praise words such as expert, trusted or top-rated. If a detail you need is missing, write [ADD: what is missing] instead of guessing.
- Do not repeat keywords or list towns just for search.
- Do not put a phone number, email address, web address or social media handle in the text. The button will handle contact.
- Keep it between 60 and 120 words in total. Speak to the reader as "you". Short sentences, plain words, no hashtags, no emojis and no more than one exclamation mark.

Return only the finished post, starting with the title line itself. Do not write labels such as "Title:" and add nothing else.

What to fill in

{{BUSINESS_NAME}}
Your business name exactly as it appears on Google.
{{BUSINESS_TYPE}}
What you do, in a few words.
{{AREA}}
The town or area you serve, the way customers say it.
{{TONE}}
Two or three words for how you sound, e.g. neighborly and practical.
{{THIS_WEEK}}
This week's news in plain facts: what is new, what is included, when it starts. The AI is told to use only these facts.
{{AUDIENCE}}
Who you want to read the post, e.g. homeowners who need a yard cleanup before winter.
{{BUTTON}}
The button you will add to the post in Google, e.g. Call now, Book or Learn more.
{{DO_NOT_MENTION}}
Anything that must stay out: prices, arrival times, claims you can't back up, words you never use.

Check before you post

  • Every fact in the post is true and comes from your inputs: no prices, dates, offers or claims the AI added.
  • There is no phone number, email address, web address or social handle in the text. Google says it may remove posts with contact details it can't verify, so use the post's Call now or link button instead.
  • The button named in the last line is the one you actually add to the post.
  • The business name and town read naturally and aren't repeated just for search.
  • Anything the post describes (a booking window, a new service, a text before arrival) is something you can actually deliver this week.
